Trainingsprogramme in Systems Biology

A national trainingsprogramme at the post-graduate level in systems biology is currently under development. Its general aim is to bring modelling/network/math approaches to biologists and biological concepts to non-biologists.
It is developed by an educational committee consisting of researchers from NISB and NCSB (www.ncsb.nl). The members of this committee are Roel van Driel (UvA), Maarten de Gee (WUR), Jeroen Jeneson (TU/e), Andre Schram (adviseur), en Age Smilde (UvA).

The trainingsprogramme consists of three layers:
  1. Web-based modules, introducing the essentials from the various scientific disciplines of importance to systems biology, such as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and engineering.
  2. Course with the aim to study the approaches and methods as applied in the various disciplines. Literature study and plenary discussions are at the core of these small courses (<20 participants).
  3. Specialist courses

The course has opened late 2010: see www.ncsb.nl/online-course.
